VICTOR NEVES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Victor Neves was an early advisor, supporter, donor, contributor, and parent volunteer for The Battalion. Along with his wife Caroldean, the Neves family has continually supported the growth of the Battalion and the Marching Arts community in Utah.
Victor loved and supported all things performing arts related in Utah, especially former students turned educators.
In 2019, Victor was awarded The Battalion Lifetime Service Award for his continuous efforts to grow the drum corps activity in the state of Utah, not only with The Battalion, but also as a long-time volunteer housing coordinator for Utah's annual DCI contest, Corps Encore.
Above all else, Victor loved his wife and kids, and regularly shouted from the rooftops their accomplishments and his joy and pride that he held for each one of them.
Victor promoted Joy.
Sadly, Victor passed away on September 20th, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer. His all-too-soon departure prompted a public outpouring of kind words and dedications from former students, colleagues, family, and friends. We all learned that Victor wasn't just a positive influence in our own lives, but also in the lives of so many others.
To honor and celebrate the legacy of Victor Neves, and to offer life enhancing drum corps experience to more prospective students, The Battalion, along with the Neves family, is proud to announces the creation of the Victor Neves Memorial Scholarship Fund. This needs-based scholarship fund is aimed to make the opportunity to march a summer with The Battalion Drum & Bugle Corps a possibility for more students. 100% of all donations to this fund will be applied directly to student scholaships. The annual application process will open in March of each year, with awards being granted in May.
A generous donor has offered to match funds 1:1 for the first $3,000 donated.
