MIKE GRIMES - VISUAL CAPTION HEAD

Mike began his drum corps career with the Bluegrass Brass Sr. drum & bugle corps as their drum major for two years before taking over as director. While directing the corps he began working with the Golden Lancers drum & bugle corps from Pittsburg, PA as their visual caption head.

 

That same year the Golden Lancers merged with Cincinnati Glory & Mike continued working with them as their visual caption head. In 1998 he became their drill designer and in 2000 Glory placed 3rd at both the DCM & World Championships winning high guard and high visual effect awards at both championships.

 

In 2001 Cincinnati Glory merged with the Marion Cadets and Mike continued as visual caption head/visual designer.

 

In 2002 Mike was asked to join the Bluecoats as a visual/brass tech and he continued working with them until 2005 when he joined the Colts as their visual caption head.

 

Mike became the Colts’ operations director in 2007 until 2010.

 

In 2016 Mike joined Legends drum & bugle corps as their assistant director & continued this position until 2018 when he became the director of the Oregon Crusaders.

 

Mike is very excited to be joining the Battalion Drum & Bugle Corps in his 33rd year of working in the marching arts.

 

He has taught many Kentucky State Championships & Mid-States finalist bands & with groups participating in Bands of America.

 

He continues working with many bands in the state of Kentucky and as an visual adjudicator/clinician for KY, IN, OH, TN & IA.
