DAVID MITCHELL - BRASS INSTRUCTOR

David Mitchell is excited to join the Battalion Brass staff in the 2023 season. Most of all, he is delighted to share the joys and adventures music can bring. David is the Current Instrument Director at Sterling Middle School where he teaches a beginning band, 3 intermediate Concert bands, Middle School Drumline, and Jazz Band. This last year David also helped teach the Sterling Middle School Marching Band.

Before Sterling, David Studied Bass Trombone at the University of Northern Colorado and graduated with bachelors in Music Education. During this time he performed with the UNC Wind Ensemble, Jazz Lab III, UNC Symphonic Band, the UNC Trombone Choir, and the Pride of the Rockies Marching Band. With the Pride of the Rockies, David served as Baritone Section Leader and later Drum Major. After UNC, he became Assistant Director at West Jefferson Middle School and Music/Visual Tech for the Ralston Valley Marching Band. 

David has been a proud supporter of DCI for many years, being inspired by the corps of old to audition and perform. David competed with the Troopers from 2019 till 2021. In 2021, David became Baritone section leader.

David is thrilled to become part of the staff that will teach, push, drive, and inspire the members of the Battalion’s 2023 season.
