DAVEY MARTINEZ - BATTERY INSTRUCTOR

From Las Vegas, Nevada, Davey began his marching career playing alto sax in the Bishop Gorman High School Marching Band. During his sophomore year he joined Vegas Vanguard Percussion Theater, where he would spend 5 seasons playing cymbals, bass drum, and aging-out on snare drum in 2017. During his time with Vegas Vanguard, the ensemble received 2 Bronze Medals in the A Class at WGI World Championships, and competed the following 3 seasons in the Open Class. For multiple years, he has also been a part of Vegas Vanguard Entertainment, performing on stage at award shows and high-end nightclubs with acts such as Tiësto, Ca$h Ca$h, Wisin, Lil Jon, Drake, and more. Davey spent his rook-out season of DCI as a member of the bass line for the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps’ inaugural season in 2016.

Davey spent two years in the University of Nevada, Las Vegas “Star of Nevada” Marching Band on bass drum and snare drum, and he is currently studying Percussion Performance at Utah Valley University under Dr. Douglas Smith and Jed Blodgett. He is also a member of the school’s Green Man Group. Other instructors include Brian Howerton, Kenton Nielson, Alex Entin, and Elias Euler. Davey has taught at multiple high schools in Las Vegas and is currently a battery tech for Copper Hills High School, in West Jordan, Utah, and Impact Percussion, based in Provo, Utah.
