The Battalion Drum Major Experience
The Drum Major Experience clinic and audition will take place on January 6-7, 2017 at Juan Diego High School in the Salt Lake City suburb of Draper, Utah. As with all of our camps, transportation and housing will be the responsibility of the drum major candidates. Most participants house with friends, family, or other auditionees they meet our Battalion Interest Page on Facebook.
Check-in begins on Friday at 5:00 pm MT, with the clinic and auditions beginning at 6:00 pm MT and going until 10:00 pm MT. The event resumes on Saturday at 9:00 am and goes until 10:00 pm. Lunch and dinner are provided on Saturday.
Drum Major Experience participants need to complete the 2017 Online Registration Form below. Participants are required to pay the $100 clinic and audition fee below as well. Process
Each drum major candidate is required to attend the January 6-7 camp. If you are selected as a drum major, you must attend ALL of the remaining winter camps. At the Drum Major Experience clinic, each candidate is reviewed individually. Each individual audition consists of an interview and a demonstration of both your conducting and leadership skills. Attendees may be offered a contract at camp, or may be called back to subsequent camps in order to ensure the proper individual(s) are selected. Please remember you must be up to date with your preparation, rehearsal requirements, and contractual obligations. If you are interested in attending the BEX Drum Major event, but do not want to be considered for the audition you may ask to remove yourself from the reviewing process at the camp. Remember this is much more than an audition, it's an educational experience!
